"The impact of the Gospel also rang true this year as twenty-six students accepted Christ into their lives at camp. What a journey they had been on in life, and now they could be confident in their destination!"

"The students in both Middle School and High School were completely challenged by the way they live their life and how their lives are being lived in obedience to the way that God has called them."

This year, Cornerstone Youth Ministry took 161 students and 26 leaders to Hume Lake Christian Camps. We loaded up four buses and took off for another week in which we knew that God was going to do amazing things. This year’s theme at Hume was FORSAKEN! It was the story of King Saul and how his choices and his disobedience led to his destruction as king and how God came to reject him because of his disobedience. The students in both Middle School and High School were completely challenged by the way they live their life and how their lives are being lived in obedience to the way that God has called them.

Our students live in a world that screams the opposite of what God has called them to and students struggle day in and day out with the temptations that the world has to offer. This summer, they fully grasped and understood that they are to put God before their own wants and desires and that God desires obedience rather than excuses for our downfalls and our sins. They learned that the relationships they have built with each other and their leaders will help hold them accountable in fully devoting themselves to God. Our students were impressed upon that they have the tools that God has given them to stand up for their faith. They learned that their fears are never stronger than God, but they can be louder. The impact of the Gospel also rang true this year as twenty-six students accepted Christ into their lives at camp. What a journey they had been on in life, and now they could be confident in their destination!

This week was a fun and incredible week that included paintball, bike jumps, amazing recreation games, belly flops and incredible milk shakes. The memories that were made and the friendships that became stronger were definitely evident this year at camp. This year was also challenging in that the theme of camp did not end up “happily ever after”. The students all left camp with a challenge that a life without obedience to God will ultimately destroy them. However, to sit back and watch how God was working in and through that was amazing! We saw students praying for each other, writing encouraging notes for each other, cheering each other on and just being there to listen. Our students, even in the tough moments, were allowing God to shape them and call them to His purpose in the midst of camp. We can’t wait to see how God will use these moments to shape this school year and keep these students ready and standing for Him.

Thank you so much for all your support and for your prayers that lifted up our students and gave them a blessed week! We cannot wait for next year!
