What is your first instinct when you need instructions to fix something? Do you use your personal experience? Do you reach out to others? Or, do you instantly go to the internet to search for the answer?
God, in His infinite wisdom, knew we would need a guidebook as we navigate through this life. He wants us to turn to Him first and foremost when we need direction as we journey through this life. As written by the psalmist, “Thy word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). This is a vow to follow God’s Word always. As we walk this sometimes difficult and challenging path of life, God’s Word will light the way. But, we need to seek Him and His Word. We need to condition ourselves to look to His Word first for the answers we need in life …. He’s in every detail of our lives and He provides the wisdom we need in His Word. His truth is imperative as we desire to live in a moral and upright fashion in every facet of our lives. In fact, Psalm 119 conveys the thought that the Word of God contains all that we need to know. How amazing is that? When we grab our Bibles – God’s “guidebook” -- we have the ability to hold all we need to know for life in our hands.
The same is true of ministry …. God’s Word is the foundation of our Cornerstone Women’s Ministry. In fact, through the past few newsletter editions, we’ve taken a deeper look into the Scripture we’ve identified as foundational for our Women’s Ministry. Written by the Apostle Paul, “I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” (Ephesians 3:16-20) As believers in Christ, His power is at work in us (strengthening us from the inside out!) as we seek Him as the ultimate guide for our lives and ministries. Certainly, it all needs to be covered in prayer ….. after all, it is solely for His glory!
If we “say” we believe that God’s Word is truth, shouldn’t we seek His Word first? Shouldn’t we stand on His Word as our foundation? Shouldn’t we make it our first instinct to turn to Him and His Word first? Certainly, it is wise to make God’s Word the foundation of our lives … so, whether you prefer an actual book or the internet, God’s Word is there for you!
