This Christmas season Cornerstone Church is offering you a great way to share the Gospel in word and deed with a friend or acquaintance who might need a little extra help around the holidays.
Here’s how it works:
Any regular attendee at Cornerstone is invited to select a person or family that is in need this Christmas and bless them with a $100 gift card! The recipient can use the funds however they wish – to pay some bills, buy a few gifts, or simply to put a nice Christmas dinner on the table. While the financial gift is great, the goal of this ministry is to provide an opportunity for you to share about the generous, sacrificial nature of Jesus who gave his very life that the world might be saved through him. As you offer the gift card, you are encouraged to share the reason for the hope that is in you (1 Peter 3:15) and offer to pray with the recipient.
If you would like to request a gift card, fill out a form at the Special Events table in the plaza and place it in the “Operation Christmas Blessing" box at the table, or put it in the offering basket. Gift cards are limited to one per “giver” and one per receiving family. Gift cards will be available for pick-up at the church office from Tuesday, December 10 through Friday December 13. Office hours are 9am – 5pm Tuesday through Thursday and 9am to noon on Friday. Each requester is responsible for picking up their gift card at the church and personally delivering it to the recipient.
Take a moment and pray about who needs to hear the Good News of Jesus this Christmas and then commit to be a part of Operation Christmas Blessing!
"While the financial gift is great, the goal of this ministry is to provide an opportunity for you to share about the generous, sacrificial nature of Jesus who gave his very life that the world might be saved through him.”
BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING!
Record Participation in the Christmas Shoe Box
and Thanksgiving Food Box Drives!
Whether blessing families right here in Long Beach or children around the world, Cornerstone Church responded in a big way this holiday season.
150 Thanksgiving Food Boxes made their way to families through local school partnerships. Principal Dr. Roshann Reed Williams of Washington Middle School wrote a note of thanks saying, “You supplied meals to 60 Washington students, staff and parents. We are so grateful for your support. Thanks for letting your light shine outside of the four walls of the church building. Thanks for brightening our community!”
With regards to the Christmas Shoebox Drive, twenty percent more shoeboxes were donated this year bringing the total number to 1,182! The boxes were prayed over at the New Missions packing party at the Poppen's home on November 9th! Debbie and Jesse Poppen "housed" the avalanche of boxes and personally transported 848 of them to Samaritan Purse’s distribution center in Fullerton on November 18th! Another 334 shoeboxes are on their way to New Missions in Haiti. Twenty Haitian teachers will also receive specially prepared boxes thanks to Cornerstone’s Life Group ministry. Every other box was packed with toiletries, school supplies, and some toys, which will serve as a tangible demonstration of God’s love and care. As they’re distributed, recipients will hear the Gospel presented in their own language.
The Christmas Shoebox and Thanksgiving Food Box Ministry leaders want thank every Cornerstone member who helped increase the impact of these outreach efforts. We also want to celebrate the dedicated volunteers who worked diligently behind the scenes to make sure all of the boxes arrived at their designated locations in good order and on time.
Thank you once again for blessing so many children and families here in Long Beach and around the world. To God be the glory!
